Celtic Design Consultants Ltd are delighted to congratulate China Merchant Heavy Industries [Jiangsu] (CMHI) and DNV GL on the signing of a Letter of Intent (LOI) for the classification of two multi-activity jack-up units for OOS Energy B.V. of the Netherlands.
CDC provided the concept design for the multi-activity units (MAUs) and this represents a major step for CDC in the commercialization of their vessel designs.
CDC Managing Director, John Davies: “This is a very exciting time for us, to have worked with our client OOS and seen them progress the design concept along with CMHI to the point where a classification body has been appointed is rewarding to say the least.”
P&A, Decom and Wind Installation
The two units are jack-ups destined for P&A, decommissioning and wind installation projects. CDC worked closely to the OOS brief that the vessels be capable of supporting simultaneous operations (SIMOPS). Iain says “Right from the start OOS had very clear ideas about the scope and capabilities of the vessel. So working to their requirements we modified our original ‘Chameleon’ jack-up vessel design to accommodate the lifting capacities and deck loads that OOS had stipulated. We’ve always maintained that our designs offer the client a blank canvas from which they can create a vessel to meet their needs.” The vessel’s hull dimensions will be L=96m by B=58m with a dual crane combined lifting capacity of 2,400 mT.
“While we offer our congratulations to CMHI, OOS and DNV GL” Iain continued “I must also thank our closest partner, Great Waters Maritime (GWM) of Dubai. GWM, our naval architects, have been critical in bringing our ideas to market as they work with us through every iteration and re-iteration of plans, elevations and arrangements. Their support has been vital in developing not only our range of jack-up vessel designs, but also our mobile JU production unit with optional storage concept, a concept which we are discussing with a number of clients as an alternative and more cost-effective solution for small pools.”
The CDC JU MOPU makes small pools / marginal fields, even more, cost-effective, when utilizing our Modular Process Plant concept, which allows the MOPU to be outfitted or modified from one reservoir grade to another, to commence production in a very short time.
